Made of strong soft-spun polyester rope, and thick oak spreaders steam
bent for comfort and stability, Nags Head Hammocks are all hand woven
and made of the highest quality materials. Nags head hammocks are world
renowned for their quality, craftsmanship, and overall durability.
The speed and rhythm of a skilled weaver often makes the job look
deceivingly easy, but weaving the body takes skill, patience, and
stamina. Fully loaded shuttles can weigh as much as 10 pounds and
each hammock must be perfectly woven without any error in the pattern.
The drive to create quality hammocks is one of the many things that
motivate the creators of Nags Head Hammocks.
Making the spreader bars is also an involved process. After being cut
to size, the oak spreaders are boiled in a vat, bent, and then dried
in racks to set the bowed shape. Later they are drilled, sanded,
varnished, re-sanded, and varnished again. This ensures that the
hammock bars are protected to survive the elements and also to last a
long time. This ensures a lot of hammock enjoyment.
Nags Head Hammocks are made with Soft-Spun Polyester - a comfortable
and durable rope. Most hammocks have an average life span of 10-12 years
or more and resist shrinking, rot and mildew. The hammocks are UV
tolerant and available in white, oatmeal, tan and hunter green.
