Hanging Hammocks
Lounging in a hammock, whether indoors or outdoors is something everyone can enjoy. Just remember that hammocks are made with string and rope that can harm little children. Therefore, they should be supervised at all times.

If you prefer to hang your hammock or hammock chair by a rope rather than using hardware, you will need approximately 12 to 14 feet of space. Find a tree limb or cross beam of a patio that is at least 6 to 8 feet tall although the hammock can be hung a little bit lower if you like. Taking two pieces of one-half-inch rope that is 8 feet long for a hammock and if hanging a chair, you will only need one 8-foot rope, and fold the rope in half.

Using one end of the rope, insert it into the hammock loop. Then take both ends of the rope and pull them over and through the loop. Next, you will need to pull both ends of the rope as tight as possible. Then pull both ends back around the tree limb or cross beam, and tie an overhead knot. Adjust the height you want your hammock to be and then pull the rope tight.

Now pull both ends of the rope around the other side of the limb or cross beam, and cross the rope ends underneath. Now you take both rope ends out and above the existing rope you just worked on, and tie a knot overheat. Pull the rope ends back around the limb or cross beam and make, two strong knots. Finally, lay down in your hammock or hammock chair and enjoy.

If you prefer to hang your hammock outside only, you will have a couple of choices. In most cases, people hang the hammock from 4 to 5 feet for hammocks with spreader bars, and between 6 and 7 feet for hammocks without a spreader bar, since they tend to bow more in the middle and therefore require more height. If you have two full-grown, sturdy trees, you would need from 14 to 17 feet between the two. If you only have one tree, you still have options. In this case, you could purchase a piece of lumber, measuring 4x4, and post it into the ground using a concrete base. Another option for one tree would be to use the side of your home or a fence post as your second anchor.

If you want a hammock and are eager to sit outdoors and soak up some relaxation but do not have any trees - no problem. In this case, you can purchase a hammock stand that acts as both anchors. In fact, you will find a number of different styles, colors, shapes, and sizes to coordinate with your hammock, house, or other outdoor furniture. Hanging a hammock is much easier than people think, so do not wait to get started.
